These things are the BEST for storing breastmilk, I think. I only have two right now that I got free in my going home bag from the hospital, but I want to buy more really soon.
Heh - I prefer the bags - you get a frozen tube with these. With the bags, you can lay them flat and they freeze with a fairly thin profile, which melts quicker under the warm tap. With these, the heat has to warm the thicker walls of the bottle and then get through half an inch or so of frozen solid breastmilk. Takes longer, I have found.
I put these in the fridge to thaw the night before they're needed so I never noticed the lengthier time to thaw them under water -- that's a good point though
I must be lucky because I have no problem with my little one taking a bottle or refusing the boob after the bottle, as long as it's got boob milk in it, she's all good.
wow. a hospital sending you home with free breastmilk storage containers? my 8 year old was born in hospital, and while they helped me with breastfeeding, they weren't handing out free stuff unless it was going to make money for pampers or cow & gate. but I have to admit that I liked the double ziploc bags that I got in Canada best, I think they were Lansinoh brand.
What was even crazier about it was it was in my diaper bag from Enfamil. I had my daughter back in March. They now have one for breastfeeding mothers that they give you some breastfeeding related stuff instead of formula in, however they do have flyers in there encouraging supplementing still, which isn't good, but at least they don't automatically send everyone home with a can of formula now.
